The latest addition to Hurley’s Phantom Innovation Platform

June 20th, 2013 – Costa Mesa, California – Continuing to expand upon its Phantom innovation platform, Hurley announces the next level in boardshort innovation: the Phantom Fuse 2. Hurley’s Phantom Fuse 2 is the latest addition to the five-time SIMA award-winning Phantom Boardshort collection. The design improves upon the innovative concepts from its predecessor, the Fuse, with a heightened focus on athlete performance.

“The waistband is the only part of the boardshort that actually touches your body,” says Bruce Moore, VP Innovation & Performance.  “We took a look at every aspect of how your body moves and focused all of our energy on the waistband.”

A neoprene-coated waistband, combined with a re-engineered support structure, makes the Phantom Fuse 2 the most advanced boardshort to date; it anchors to the body, yet allows for a full range of motion. This kind of stability is crucial in powerful surf conditions.

“When I’m surfing, it’s a fight against the elements, and comfort is key,” says Hurley athlete Julian Wilson. “The Phantom Fuse 2 does both; it allows for zero distractions in the water.”

The short features pragmatic, sustainable technology: ultra lightweight with bonded seams, 60% stretch, DWR water repellency and recycled fabric –12 plastic bottles per pair. To date, over 45 million plastic water bottles have been repurposed into Hurley boardshorts.

The Phantom Fuse 2 will be available as of June 19th on Hurley.com as well as select Hurley retailers nationwide. For additional information on the Phantom Fuse 2 and Hurley, visit hurley.com/phantom.
